Heart transplant

Writer: WSDWSD

There is a void –

They put the heart in place,

Connected the wires

And tightened the screws

- I’ve been so mechanical,

There’s little sinew left

To feel the way, I once did

They check the spark plugs,

And throw in a few amps

But still no ignition –

And then you hold my hand

And place your lips on mine –

Suddenly,

Ever so gentle at first,

A steady rhythm

And there’s the beat –

Stitch me up,

Operation over –

I’m ready to love

And to live

Once again.
